Technology Trek!

We are holding a Technology Trek today! We have some very special visitors coming from St. Clare Catholic School coming today. We are going to be highlighting all the technology we have done so far this year. (QR Quest Codes, Green Screen, Mathletics and a variety of Ipad apps).

Green Screen is something new that we are learning so the teachers from St. Clare will be learning along with us! Stay tuned! I will post our Green Screen Videos once they are finished!

Trip Trap Trip Trap

We prayed for nicer weather this morning. The students can hardly wait to get outside to really enjoy our Canadian Winters the way they are suppose too!

Language/Drama

The students are super excited to start practising their lines for our upcoming production of "Trip Trap Trip Trap  - On Our Way to School".  Each of their respective parts will be handed out to them on Tuesday. We will be spending some time in class practising their lines and the children are also expected to start memorizing the lines at home as well. I will send an update as to when we will be ready for showtime closer to the date.

National Gallery of Canada

We had an awesome visit from the National Gallery of Canada this morning. The student were certainly engaged in the Arts and learned about artists such as Velino Herrera, Ruth Start and Wassily Kandinsky. We made great connections to Math and Art as well. The students enjoyed choosing their favourite painting and talking about what they saw. A BIG THANK YOU to the National Art Gallery!

I hope everyone  had a fabulous Family Day Weekend. My boys and I spent the day at the Museum of Civilization with Bob the Builder. We had lots of fun!

Don't forget that our whole school will celebrating 50 years of Canada's flag tomorrow. Please wear red and white to commemorate the event!  We will be doing several language and math activities tomorrow that are related to this special celebration. It may be too cold to sing our National Anthem at the flagpole in the morning! We'll have to wait and see...

Friday, February 6th

We have been working very hard getting caught up on projects that had to get finished. We have now all published our non-fiction projects and our Angry Bird houses are all complete. We will test our houses again a variety of forces next week (a hurricane, an earthquake and gravity).

The Non-Fiction Reports are proudly displayed outside our classroom and the Angry Bird houses are in our Learning Commons.

We continue to work on mental math concepts for addition and subtraction. I want the students to not be "afraid" of big numbers! We will also continue to work on addition and subtraction with and without regrouping next week.

Well we didn't win the HOT for SENS contest but I am extremely proud of all of our student's efforts They did amazing and should be very proud of their accomplishments! UNTIL NEXT WEEK... Have a fabulous weekend everyone! Ms. Harrington
