Digital Citezenship

We have been working on Digital Citizenship over the last couple of weeks and will continue until Christmas. We are learning what is like to be a good citizen and making connections between a variety of bible stories such has the parable of the Good Samaritan and a modern day parable of the Good Samaritan. The students were moved by the good actions of everyday people to help those in need.

I have uploaded 2 of our Monster IStopMotion videos. The others will be uploaded on my return to school.

The children worked hard on these and are very proud of what they accomplished!

See you soon Grade 3

Well boys and girls I just wanted to send you a quick note to let you know that I will miss you very much while I am gone over the next little while. You'll be happy to know that I am not far though, I am working at St. Clare just down the road. I hope that you have a great time learning with Mrs. O'Connell.

I will be taking a look at your Raz Kid account over the next couple of days. I hope you are using the account as much as possible. Watch for little messages to come your way from little old me.

Chat soon! I am also hoping to be able to Skype or Facetime with you sometime this week.

No Word Wall Sentence Homework this week

Due to a short week, we will be writing out sentences in class. Most of the students finished them this morning. Thanks, Ms, Harrington

Bookworm & Raz Kids

Bookworm and Raz Kids will be listed as homework every night starting today. The children can choose whether they would like to read using Raz Kids or Bookworm. Raz Kids is online and Bookworm is reading real books.  They are bringing home a sheet to keep track of the Bookworm reading, should they choose to do so. I have asked them to keep this sheet folded and in the front pocket of their agenda. Raz Kids is kept track of online.

Bookworm & Raz Kids Reading Program

Tomorrow your child will receive their “Bookworm” reading folder. A space can be filled in for any twenty minutes of reading. Reading can be done independently, it can be shared reading or your child can be read to. They are encouraged to read or experience print in many different ways. Some examples are picture books, novels, joke books, poetry books, newspaper articles or comic strips, collector cards, computer reading programs or books on cd.

For every twenty spaces they fill they finish a level. For every level they achieve they will receive a certificate. For every five levels (including completed book reports or responses) your child will receive a free book. This reading program will be listed as homework every night Monday through Thursday. The choice is theirs to either read using books at home or through our new RAZ Kids account. The Raz Kids account reading will not receive certificates. I have encouraged the students to do a balance of both Raz Kids and Bookworm reading (reading from actual books). Naturally, the more reading experiences for your child, the more proficient the will become in reading.
